The city's sanitation trucks rarely picked up the street garbage in East Harlem, and the rotting trash overwhelmed the barrio. Members of the Young Lords and neighbors get together and start sweeping the streets, the first of many community campaigns. “You’re never too young to make a difference!” they say. The sisters jump in and discover they too can help change the world.

VICKI and A Summer of Change! ¡VICKI y un verano de cambio! is a beautifully illustrated bilingual book for children 5 to 8 years old. Topics of social and environmental justice are presented in an accessible and age-appropriate way.

The forthcoming book will be available in paperback and ebook formats online at Amazon, Barnes&Noble, and Ingramspark. For updates, check this website or write to info@redsugarcanepress.com.
