Teatro Luna Latinas on a mission By Jhanelle Rivera

Teatro Luna, an experimental, all-Latina theater company based in Chicago, is focused on social change.

 

“We are trying to change the narrative of the over-sexualized Latina, the gang-banging ‘chola,’ or the snobbish ‘fresa.’ The idea is that there is a full spectrum of Latinas, and that is what you are going to see within our organization,” says Alexandra Meda, executive director of the troupe, which appears in San Francisco this week.
