Puerto Rican Poets from the Diaspora in NY Times

NY TIMES WEEKEND MISER

Puerto Ricans Molded by New York
By A. C. LEE, Published: November 21, 2013

November is Puerto Rican Heritage Month in New York, giving the
city a chance to recognize the ways figures like the Supreme Court
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, the
cultural historian Arturo Alfonso Schomburg and the founders of the
Nuyorican poetry movement have shaped and been shaped by New
York. And the Miser, being the Miser, after all, is happy to note that a
number of the programs tied to the celebration are free and open to
the public.
...
Another free reading, on Friday night at the MNN El Barrio Firehouse Community Media Center, a neighborhood-oriented broadcast production studio in East Harlem, will feature poets spanning generations, from the original Nuyoricans José Angel Figueroa and Sandra Maria Esteves to the younger writers Peggy Robles-Alvarado and Rafael Landron.
(Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., 175 East 104th Street; 212-757-2670, mnn.org.)
